Anyone Else Awake? A Dawn Chorus

Wonder is often disguised as a bird.

Have you ever wondered what the birds might actually be saying when they sing those sweet whistle-y songs, chirps, chortles, and tweeps in the morning? Carmela’s latest book, Anyone Else Awake? A Dawn Chorus, stars eleven common bird singers…er rather, species. This lyrical book pairs words with some of the (science-based) reasons the birds might be singing. Bird by bird, the story builds and builds, until the pages burst into a delightful chorus—a Dawn Chorus!

In spring and early summer the birds begin to sing and chatter during 3 phases of dawn, astronomical dawn, nautical dawn, and civil dawn, even before the sun rises! (Many people don’t know that!)

The back matter of Anyone Else Awake? features important facts and information about birds and the dawn chorus.
